Sima and May Day drinks from Finnish producers

What is sima?

Sima is a traditional Finnish May Day (vappu) drink made with water, sugar, lemon and yeast. Home-made sima is usually almost non-alcoholic, while the alcohol content of commercially produced sima varies. Sima is sold especially in the weeks before May Day. It is sometimes called mead in English, although mead made from honey is a different drink.

The list is built from Juomakartta data: it includes published drinks whose drink type given by the producer is sima, or whose name refers to sima, vappu or mead. Details such as alcohol content and package size are based on what the producers publish on their own websites. Juomakartta does not sell drinks; availability can be checked with the producer or a retailer.
