Finnish sparkling drinks
In Finland sparkling drinks are bought especially for New Year's Eve, but they are sold all year round. Finnish farm wineries usually make sparkling wine from berries, such as currants or gooseberries, and from apples. The bubbles come either from a second fermentation in the bottle, as in the traditional method, or from carbonation. Champagne is a protected name that may only be used for sparkling wine from the Champagne region in France. Finnish sparkling wines made from berries and apples are called kuohuviini (sparkling wine).
The list is built from Juomakartta data: it includes published wines and ciders whose name refers to a sparkling drink or New Year. Details such as alcohol content and package size are based on what the producers publish on their own websites. Juomakartta does not sell drinks; availability can be checked with the producer or a retailer.
